When your campaign ends

Every crowdfunding campaign eventually reaches its closing date.

Whether you achieved your funding goal or fell short of it, this is an opportunity to pause, reflect and look ahead. The end of your campaign is not simply the conclusion of a fundraising exercise. It marks the beginning of the next stage of your project.

If your campaign was successful, take time to thank your supporters.

Without their confidence and generosity, your project would not have reached this point. A sincere message of appreciation is more than good manners. It acknowledges that your supporters have become part of your journey and reassures them that their contributions are valued.

Begin delivering what you promised.

Whether your rewards include recordings, printed music, concert tickets, acknowledgements or other benefits, keep supporters informed about your progress. If your project will take time to complete, regular updates help maintain confidence and demonstrate that work is continuing as planned.

If your campaign did not reach its funding goal, do not view it as a failure.

Many successful creators have experienced campaigns that fell short before achieving success with later projects. Every campaign provides valuable experience. Consider what worked well, what could be improved and how you might approach your next campaign differently.

Stay connected with your supporters.

The community you have built during your campaign is one of its greatest achievements. Continue sharing news about your project where appropriate and let supporters know how your work develops. People who have believed in one project are often interested in following your future work as well.

Reflect on what you have learned.

Every campaign is unique. You may discover new ways of communicating with your audience, new organisations interested in your work or new opportunities that arose because you shared your project publicly. These experiences are valuable, whatever the financial outcome.

Crowdfunding is about more than raising money.

It is an opportunity to bring people together through a shared interest in music and to invite them to become part of something meaningful. Whether you are publishing an edition, commissioning a composition, restoring an instrument or organising a festival, your supporters have helped transform an idea into reality.
