About this project
Over the past four years, Anna Kowalska has arranged ten folk songs from Poland, Slovakia and Hungary for four-part community choir, tested and refined through performances with her own choir in Kraków.
The arrangements exist only as handwritten and roughly typeset scores, unusable by other choirs. This campaign funds professional music engraving for all ten arrangements and the licensing infrastructure to make them available for community and school choirs to purchase and perform legally.
The goal is a small but permanent catalogue: material that would otherwise remain unused outside one choir in one city.
Why this project matters
Ten finished arrangements currently exist in a form no other choir can use; engraving is the only step standing between them and general availability.
About the creator
Anna Kowalska studied choral conducting in Kraków and has directed a 30-voice community choir since 2019. Arranging folk material for that choir led to the catalogue this campaign funds engraving for.
People involved
Anna Kowalska (arranger), a freelance music engraver (to be contracted on funding), and Kraków's Common Ground community choir, who will performance-test each engraved score before release.
How the funding will be used
Professional music engraving, ten scores: €2,000. Proofreading and choir testing of final engraved parts: €400. Licensing platform setup: €400.
If the target is not reached
At the minimum amount, the first six of the ten arrangements (in order of how often they're requested by other choir directors) would be engraved and released, with the remaining four following as a later phase.
Risks and possible delays
Engraving quotes are estimates pending a final contract; if costs run higher than quoted, the number of scores completed in this phase would be reduced rather than the per-score quality.
Supporter rewards and acknowledgements
€8 — a digital copy of one finished score of your choice. €25 — digital copies of all ten scores on release. €55 — the above plus your name listed as a supporting patron in each score's front matter.
Existing support
The arrangements themselves are complete and have been performance-tested by the Kraków choir; no funds have been raised toward engraving to date.
