FundMyMusic Cookie Policy

Effective date: 1 September 2026

FundMyMusic uses a small number of cookies and similar browser technologies. These are used primarily to support secure payment processing and to remember a creator’s preference when using the introductory walkthrough on the application page.

FundMyMusic does not use cookies for advertising, behavioural profiling or analytics.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small files that a website can store on your device. They allow a website or a third-party service to recognise a browser or remember information between visits.

FundMyMusic also uses browser local storage for one limited functional purpose. Although local storage is not technically a cookie, it is covered by this policy because it involves storing information in your browser.

Cookies used by FundMyMusic

Our current website uses the following cookies.

Stripe payment cookies

When Stripe’s payment system is loaded, including on donation and creator application pages, Stripe sets two cookies:

Cookie Provider Purpose Approximate duration
__stripe_mid Stripe Helps Stripe recognise a device and detect potentially fraudulent payment activity and assess payment risk Approximately one year
__stripe_sid Stripe Provides a session identifier used by Stripe as part of its fraud-prevention and payment-security systems Approximately 30 minutes

These are third-party cookies set by Stripe’s payment technology rather than by FundMyMusic itself.

They are used for payment security and fraud prevention. They are not used by FundMyMusic for advertising, analytics or behavioural profiling.

The cookies are set when Stripe’s payment technology is initialised, including before a visitor has entered payment information.

Whether these cookies fall within the exemption for storage or access to information that is strictly necessary for a service actively requested by the visitor is dependent on the applicable legal requirements and the circumstances in which the payment service is being provided.

FundMyMusic creator walkthrough

FundMyMusic uses browser local storage to remember whether a visitor has completed or skipped the introductory ‘Welcome to FundMyMusic’ walkthrough on the creator application page.

The item used is:

fmm_onboarding_tour_v1

It stores only the status of the walkthrough, such as ‘skipped’ or ‘completed’. It does not store a name, email address or other personal information.

The information remains in the browser until the site’s stored data is cleared.

What FundMyMusic does not use

FundMyMusic does not currently use cookies or similar technologies for:

  • advertising;
  • behavioural advertising;
  • visitor profiling;
  • Google Analytics or GA4;
  • Google Tag Manager;
  • Meta/Facebook Pixel;
  • advertising networks;
  • social-media tracking.

Our audit also found no persistent GiveWP donor-session cookie for ordinary guest donations.

WordPress and Divi may use cookies in administrative circumstances, such as when an administrator is logged into WordPress or using the Divi Visual Builder. These are not cookies ordinarily set for anonymous visitors simply browsing FundMyMusic.

Third-party services

FundMyMusic uses third-party services to provide certain functions.

The principal third-party service relevant to this policy is Stripe, which provides payment processing and associated payment-security and fraud-prevention technology.

Third-party services may process information in accordance with their own policies and terms. FundMyMusic does not use Stripe’s payment technology for advertising or behavioural tracking.

Google Fonts

FundMyMusic currently loads some fonts directly from Google’s servers.

This does not involve a cookie being placed on your device. However, loading a font from Google’s servers causes your browser to make a connection to Google and may transmit information such as your IP address.

This is therefore a separate privacy matter rather than a cookie. FundMyMusic is reviewing whether these fonts should instead be hosted directly by FundMyMusic.

Managing cookies and browser storage

You can control or remove cookies and browser storage through the settings of your web browser.

Blocking or removing certain technologies may affect the operation of parts of the website. In particular, Stripe’s payment-security technology may be necessary for the secure processing and risk assessment of payment transactions.

Changes to this policy

FundMyMusic may update this Cookie Policy when the technologies used by the website change or when applicable legal or regulatory requirements change.

The date shown at the beginning of this policy indicates when it was last updated.
